Technical Breakdown

19-section schema

Definition

The angle of the wrist at release decides whether a delivery swings, seams, spins or skids — the single biggest variable a bowler controls (Wasim Akram, Anil Kumble, Ellyse Perry).

Wrist Position

Locked behind the ball = -up stock; opened slightly = ; cocked further = ; rolled forward = /; back-of-hand = wrist-spin or slower ball.

Biomechanics

Forearm / late in the action sets the wrist; the rest of the action stays identical to keep the batter guessing.

Tactical Use

Vary wrist within the same to avoid telegraphing.

Common Mistakes & Drills

Visible wrist changes pre-release; train in front of a mirror at half-.

Injury Risks

Repeated extreme stresses the medial elbow — the reason and back-of-hand variations require load monitoring.
