Decision Making & Anticipation

5 min read•3/19 sections

Reading cues before release.

Training: Hidden-cue and occlusion-video drills (used by ECB, CA) build pattern recognition.

Technical Breakdown

19-section schema

Definition

The cognitive skill of using bowler cues (wrist position, , arm angle, ) to anticipate ball type before release (elite batters do this 100–150 ms earlier than club batters).

Biomechanics

Saccadic eye jumps from bowler's hand to the predicted zone; the eyes don't track the full flight, they predict and confirm.

Common Mistakes & Drills

Watching the ball all the way without prediction — too slow against 145 km/h.
